HELM Assessments

This page allows you to access the CD implementation of 80 (eighty) pre-selected HELM Assessments (CAA) covering several mathematical topics found in the corresponding HELM Workbooks.

The assessments are designed for use on MS Windows based PCs only and the Macintosh platform is not supported.

We strongly recommend you to take a look at the "introduction to the assessments" before commencing an actual assessment.

Select "run" or "open" option when prompted after clicking here to try the assessments (note that this is a 125MB download, which will copy files to your C:\Temp directory). Enter your name and then select an assessment from the list. If you need guidance, please click the HELP button within the assessment. Once you have downloaded this software you can run it subsequent times by either navigating to the c:\temp\caa_sep2006\ and double clicking the Presenter.exe file; if you would like to you may also move the caa_sep2006 directory to a different area of your computer to make it easier to find.

If you have QuestionMark Perception (QMP) software available, you could consider using the bank of HELM mathematics questions to design your own assessments. The HELM question bank is freely available (upon request) to academic institutions in England and Northern Ireland.
