About FAIM 2009

The 19th International Conference on Flexible Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing (2009 FAIM) aims at providing a forum for exchange of ideas between researchers in the areas of manufacturing with a view to fostering a better link between industry and academia. The main theme of the conference is on Lean manufacturing and service. Keynote speakers of international reputation, many of whom are successful industrial practitioners will address the concerns, trends, and best-practice solutions, in sustainable enterprise, catering for large and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The conference is targeting an audience of over 200 leaders from industry and academia to exchange perspectives from all areas of manufacturing and will embrace: developing people, leadership, strategy, globalisation, competitiveness, business efficiency, lean thinking and adding value.

Manufacturing encompasses a wide spectrum of activities in providing varieties of products and services, which are being improved and strengthened by rapidly changing technical sectors, such as electronics, new materials, automation and computer engineering, and efficient information technology. In addition, increasing pressures from issues such as service, environmental protection and globalization are tremendously influencing the management and the production elements of manufacturing. Engineers, scientists, managers and academicians all over the world are engaged in various innovative activities and research to generate new and advanced concepts in manufacturing processes and systems, operations and marketing management, and strategies for operational and organizational factors, information management and human factors in the industrial environment. FAIM 2009 aims at offering an international forum for the presentation of ideas, research and development activities and investigative results as well as exchange of knowledge and experience, and to facilitate the transfer of such ideas into practice. The conference will bring together international experts to United Kingdom to promote greater research interests.
